Plastic Photoreforming: Solar-Driven Pathway to Clean Hydrogen and Chemical Feedstocks
The core scientific concepts (photocatalysis, plastic photoreforming mechanisms, and historical references to Fujishima–Honda TiO2 water splitting) are accurate and widely documented. However, several time-specific and attribution-specific claims require verification. I found no indexed record confirming a July 10, 2025 mini-review on plastic photoreforming in Frontiers in Energy by Jiangsu University and Shanghai Jiao Tong University, nor an IBS/SNU announcement on June 11, 2025 about a hydrogel-stabilized floating photocatalyst yielding hydrogen and PET monomers under natural sunlight. These could be true but are presently unverifiable via publicly accessible, authoritative sources. The articles mix well-established background with some un-cited, time-bound claims stated as fact; they should be qualified and sourced.
