Solid Oxide Electrolyzers for Hydrogen Production

1 mention

Bloom Energy’s solid oxide electrolyzer is a high‑temperature electrolysis system that uses a similar ceramic cell platform to its fuel cells, operated in reverse to split water into hydrogen and oxygen with what the company claims is higher hydrogen output per unit of electrical input than low‑temperature proton exchange membrane (PEM) or alkaline electrolyzers, especially when supplied with heat from renewable or industrial sources.[10]
