Breaking News: Mysterious Blaze Engulfs Electric Semi Trucks at Nikola Corporation
Jun 23, 2023
A challenging situation unfolded early Friday morning in an industrial area near 40th Street and Broadway in Phoenix, as several electric semi trucks caught fire at the Nikola Corporation building. The incident prompted a significant response from hazmat crews in both Phoenix and Tempe. Thick black smoke and a strong chemical odor filled the air, while firefighters worked tirelessly to combat the blaze, which was deemed difficult and tricky. The fire reportedly began due to a chemical reaction in a truck battery and quickly spread to other vehicles. Nikola Motor Company suspects foul play, as a vehicle was spotted near the trucks just before the flames erupted. Firefighters have been continuously spraying water to cool down the battery fires, as the size of the semis prevents the use of sand to extinguish the flames. In a tweet, the company expressed gratitude to the Phoenix and Tempe Fire Departments for their swift action and ongoing efforts to manage the situation. No injuries have been reported, and an investigation into the suspected foul play is currently underway.
