Partial oxidation (POX) is a high‑temperature process that converts hydrocarbon feedstocks into synthesis gas, a mixture mainly of hydrogen and carbon monoxide, by reacting the fuel with a limited amount of oxygen.[10][6] At Air Liquide’s Oberhausen plant, the POX unit produces around 340,000 tonnes of syngas and hydrogen per year, supplying OXEA’s oxo‑chemicals production at the Ruhrchemie industrial park.[2][4]
