A two-phase hydrogen and natural gas fuel cell power plant project at IMPALA Platinum's South African refinery. Phase 1 will deploy hydrogen fuel cells generating 1.8 megawatts; Phase 2 will add natural gas fuel cells to reach 22 megawatts total capacity.

A fuel-cell-only power grid project being tested by Anglo American Platinum to provide energy to a small community. The company is also developing clean energy systems for miners including headlamp and vehicle power solutions.

Fuel cells powered by natural gas to be deployed in the second phase of the power plant project, contributing to the total 22 megawatt capacity.

Conventional design hydrogen fuel cells using platinum catalysts to convert hydrogen fuel into electrical power. Each cell generates 1.8 megawatts.
