Green hydrogen production and storage

The process used to produce green hydrogen by splitting water using electricity.

Underground storage in natural salt formations carved through solution mining, located 200–1,500 meters deep. These caverns provide gas-tight, pressure-sealed vaults ideal for long-term hydrogen storage.

Gas turbines modified or designed to operate using hydrogen as fuel, with a focus on high-volume hydrogen utilization.

Utah

An 840 MW hydrogen-capable combined cycle power plant operated by the Intermountain Power Agency. The plant will initially operate on a 70% natural gas and 30% green hydrogen blend, with plans to transition to 100% hydrogen operation by 2045.

A green hydrogen production and storage facility designed to be the largest of its kind in the world, located in Delta, Utah. The facility will produce hydrogen using renewable-powered electrolysis and store it in salt caverns for supply to power generation and other applications.
