A legal classification under EU Renewable Energy Directive (RED II and RED III) for liquid and gaseous fuels produced from renewable electricity without biomass or biological feedstock. RFNBOs include synthetic fuels such as e-hydrogen, e-methanol, e-kerosene, and e-methane, playing a crucial role in decarbonization of transport and industry, particularly in hard-to-electrify sectors.

A comprehensive certification framework for verifying that renewable fuels meet EU sustainability standards and greenhouse gas reduction criteria. The system has been continuously improved through over 20 pilot audits since 2022 and became fully operational following European Commission recognition in December 2024.
