Hydrogen storage infrastructure

A method of storing hydrogen in large underground caverns created in salt formations. Salt is chemically inert to hydrogen, impermeable to fluids, and geologically stable, making it ideal for long-term hydrogen storage.

A second hydrogen storage facility in south Dorset utilizing underground salt caverns to store hydrogen. The project is strategically positioned near SGN's planned H2 Connect hydrogen pipeline to serve green hydrogen plants in the Solent Cluster and wider Southern UK hydrogen networks.
